Communication and
Media Studies, BA

About the programme

The Communication and Media Studies BA will provide you with invaluable insight into the working of the media and the fundamentals of communication strategies, while also exploring the impact of these on corporate operations. During the programme, you will learn how to communicate effectively in any situation, confidently use digital communication tools, excel at content creation, and independently manage tasks related to campaign planning, and reputation and crisis management.

If you are interested in both business and media, as well as the fields of PR and marketing, then our programme can help you to build your successful career as a radio, TV, or online journalist, a presenter, an event organiser, or a creative copywriter.

Our programme became the first academic programme in Central and Eastern Europe to be accredited by the UK-based Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), recognising the quality of the content and the delivery.

Our practice-oriented training prepares students to enter the job market as communication professionals, spokespersons, digital content creators, social media managers, PR experts, or crisis communication consultants for domestic and multinational companies or state organisations. Business communication sits at the heart of what we do, but you will also have the opportunity to try your hand at content creation, reporting, interviewing, camera operation, and editing as part of the university’s media workshop.

Upon completion of the programme, you will receive a degree certifying your qualification as a Communicator.

The Communication and Media Studies BA is taught at our city centre campus, and is also is offered full-time in English.

In addition to general social science subjects, the Communication and Media Studies BA also covers key areas of business studies, such as business communication, marketing, communication skills, digital communication, communication strategies and crisis communication, PR and reputation management, and inter-cultural communication. As a result, graduates can easily continue their studies not only within the field of communication and media, but also on business-related master’s degrees.
