The BEE Mentorship Programme is organized by Hungarian and international students to support other international students in the English language study programmes at Budapest Business University.
The programme is open to all international and Hungarian students who attend English language study programmes. Freshmen and incoming students have the opportunity to become mentees, with the more experienced second- and third-year students as mentors.
In many cases, foreign students come from distant countries, and often this is the first time for them to be away from home. It is a difficult experience to be away from home for the first time. Students need to take care of themselves on their own, solve problems alone, and their parents and friends are no longer there to help them out. This new situation could be very challenging.
By joining the mentorship programme, students do not need to face these challenges alone. The most important aim of our international mentorship program is to help international students with socialization and integration into everyday life in Hungary and at the university. For example, mentors contact the mentees before arrival and start to organize the most important things they need to sort out when they arrive. The mentor may also meet the mentee upon arrival at the airport and can help them in finding their way around the university, including the accommodation and administration offices. Mentors accompany mentees, if needed, throughout the whole semester, they offer social and professional programmes, and give support e.g., in the exam period or when an emergency appears.

Supporting people has always been important to me. With this mentor program I’m not only helping others, but I’m also able to create lifelong relationships from all around the world, which is an amazing opportunity. I know, I’m facing my best moments at the university because of this program.
Hi! I’m Adri, a second-year student of International Business Economics. Before I started my university studies, I was learning Chinese at a Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual School. In short, I love to organize and plan, and this doesn’t only apply to traveling. I am also a lover of languages and books.
As the Head Mentor of BEE Mentorship Program, I understand the unique challenges faced by international students when moving to Hungary. My personal experiences have taught me resilience, adaptability, and the value of mentorship. It is my deep commitment to ensuring that newcomers don’t encounter the same difficulties I did. My role is not just a duty but a responsibility to provide support, guidance, and a sense of community for international students. Through this role, I aim to make their transition smoother, integration seamless, and university life memorable. I’m honoured to be part of their journey, offering strength, resilience, and a nurturing environment to empower their success. Together, we’ll make their experience unforgettable.
By joining the BEE mentorship program, I got a chance to be a part of a very friendly and meaningful community, where we can develop precious friendships with fellow mentors and our mentees. Most importantly, this program allows me to help and support international students, who are trying to adapt to a new environment and adjust to university life. We remind the students that we are all in this together and make them feel welcomed.
It feels great to be a part of this team where each of us has the same goals: helping our fellow students feel at home in a completely new culture and making their lives easier. I believe that our work is crucial to creating a safe and friendly environment for the mentees and to making their time at our university an enjoyable experience.
I love being part of the mentoring community. For me, the BEE mentorship program means giving back, because I was also a mentee in the past. Now I can help to make the new environment feel like home, encourage, and inspire. It is also a great opportunity to step out of your bubble, gain new perspectives while meeting adventurous people.
