Call for application for Pannonia Program academic mobility for the 2024/2025 academic year (outgoing students).

The International Relations and Mobility Office at BBU announces the Pannonia Program for study abroad mobility application.

About the programme

The purpose of mobility is to enable the acquisition of educational, linguistic and cultural experiences in a higher education institution in another Pannonia Program or Partner country. Mobility for academic purposes should promote the student’s academic progress and personal development.

The total mobility period (academic study and practical traineeship) within one study cycle can be a maximum of 12 months. The selected students can study at the host institution free of charge and receive a living allowance awarded within the framework of the Pannonia Program.

This opportunity is not available for students participating in BBU’s Stipendium Hungaricum program.

Application deadline:
17th March 2024, 23:59

  • You must have completed at least one semester at the time of submitting the application, with the exception of students participating in a master’s, PhD and doctoral programs.
  • You must meet the formal requirements of the application. The ranking is based on the aggregate adjusted credit index and the scientific, as well as public activity mentioned in your motivational letter.
  • You must have at least B2 language skills in the language of instruction, or you must be participating in BBU’s foreign language program. If you do not have a language exam, a certificate must be issued by your faculty’s language department.

  • In one training cycle, the total mobility period can be a maximum of 12 months.
  • Before starting your mobility abroad, you must fill out and submit a written study contract with previously agreed on content (Learning Agreement).
  • Your mobility activity must fit into your training plan and be related to your current studies.
  • At the end of the mobility period, the foreign host institution must issue a certificate of the completed study program, as well as the results (Certificate of Study Period/Transcript of Records).
  • In the case of academic mobility, a minimum of 15 ECTS credits must be completed at the host institution.
  • We don’t encourage going on exchange during your graduation semester, unless you are participating in a Double Degree programme, which may specifically require it.
  • BBU is obliged to fully accept the activities undertaken, completed and certified in the study contract (Grant Agreement).
  • You are entitled to a study scholarship or other loan disbursement received at BBU during the mobility period spent abroad as well.
  • If a student successfully applies twice in consecutive semesters and withdraws their application both times after being nominated, they can only resubmit an application after skipping one application cycle.

3) Motivation letter

The basic requirement for the application is a motivation letter, in which you mention the following:

Your motivation letter will not be scored but we will consider your answers if you have explained all your previous experiences. By submitting your application, you authorise the relevant BBU associates to read your motivation letter and use it anonymously for research and/or as a tool for improving the application process.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Total adjusted credit index average (0 – 60 points)
  • If applicable: TDK, OTDK I-III. placement or special award; (30 or 15 points)
  • Other outstanding academic, sports, artistic or social/public activities, mentoring of foreign students, participation in international projects, project week courses, participation in an online international project as part of class work, etc. which you include in your motivational letter (10 points awarded once)

A total of 100 points can be earned.

The scoring system can be found HERE.

The motivation letter will not be scored, but in case of score matching, we will use your motivation letter to decide about the final ranking.

The scholarships are awarded based on the accepted point system, taking into account the planned tender funds. The decision is conditional and can only be considered final if the financial support available for the institution is disbursed. All applicants will be notified of this via email. Before submitting your application, it is important that you thoroughly find out about the courses offered by the selected partner institution, the language of instruction and the costs of living involved.

You can apply for study mobility at BBU’s Pannonia Program partner institutions. You can find the list of currently eligible institutions HERE.

  • The list of partners was determined at the institutional level, by discipline, therefore not by faculty. What matters is that subjects taken during the study abroad period shall be connected to your studies at BBU.
  • The applicant must study the partner’s profile and make a decision based on the available relevant courses.
  • You must have at least B2 or equivalent language skills in one of the teaching languages of the given institution, which you can prove with a language test, a language school certificate, or a certificate issued by the BBU Foreign Language Institute.
  • You can select a maximum of 3 host institutions simultaneously as a mobility destination; the decision to which institution you have won the scholarship is made based on the ranking and the number of available places.
  • In the current application round, applications can only be submitted for the 2024/2025 academic year.

In case the Pannonia funding will be available, you can calculate the approximate amount of your grant in advance. The grant is a contribution to your mobility plan, but it does not necessarily cover all your costs. Make a budget before you start. The amount will depend on your destination country and the time you spend abroad. It is a flat-rate amount, there is no itemized account, but you will have to prove that you have completed your mobility in accordance with your grant agreement. You will receive the scholarship in one sum in Forint after signing the contract.
